History
Before the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia became a country is used to be four different regions (Hejaz, Najd, Eastern Arabia, and Southern Arabia). Ibn Saud (picture on the left) was able to unite the regions by using military force to take control, also known as conquest. He began with Riyadh in the year 1902, his family's ancestral home. Once all the regions became one country Saudi Arabia was also called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" because of the fact that two mosques ( the Kaaba and the Mosque of Muhammad) were located in the country.
